This treatment is designed to support skin regeneration, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, plump and firm skin while giving an overall more youthful and glowing appearance. Skin needling can also support the healing of acne scars and improve the appearance of stretch marks and surgical scars.
Each of the thousands of tiny puncture wounds induces the release of growth factors that begin the process of wound healing. These factors stimulate new collagen and elastin growth in the surrounding skin. New collagen and elastin production is the goal of all skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments.

The first phase begins with the release of the body’s growth factors and the further cascade of new epidermal growth, fibroblast chemotaxis, fibroblast proliferation and matrix production. The second phase of wound healing involves deposition of collagen III, IV and I, elastin, proteoglycans, and GAGs.

These factors stimulate new collagen and elastin growth in the surrounding skin which, once initiated, can continue for up to 12 months.
We finish the procedure with a DP Dermaceuticals Sheet Mask to soothe and comfort the skin immediately, followed by a Vitamin Rich Repair Cream and Cover Recover SPF. Your skin will look red and feel warm directly after the treatment and this will subside after a couple of hours with the redness reducing gradually over 4-5 days.
HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?
This depends on what you are treating and how often you perform treatments. Most patients will see progress within a few days and the process of skin improvement can continue for months after treatments.
The process of skin remodelling can go on for months after each Dermapen treatment. Results can be seen within a week or even a few days.
Post Skin Needling you can expect to see varying degrees of redness, puffiness, peeling, flaking. For the first 12 hours it is important to treat your skin like sunburn while it is still open and vulnerable. A minimum of SPF 30 can be worn the following day and sun exposure is not recommended for 1 week post the procedure. After a week your skin will be feeling back to normal again with a brighter and smoother complexion.
You won’t need to do anything to your skin for at least 4 hours. Avoid Make up for 12 hours directly post procedure, as well as no actives including AHA’s, BHA’s, Retinol (Vitamin A) and Vitamin C for 5-7 days. No manual exfoliation, peels or microdermabrasion for two weeks.
