5 Nightly Beauty Rituals

5 Nightly Beauty Rituals

When it comes to taking care of your skin, it’s what you do every day that makes the difference. Skincare routines need to be just that – routines, in order for them to work as effectively as possible. Taking care of your skin and following a routine should always be a priority, no matter your age or the condition of your skin. Our 5 nightly beauty rituals will help see your skin looking and feeling fabulous.

1. Double Cleanse

After a long day, all kinds of dirt, sweat and makeup can clog your pores, making it a haven for acne. To ensure your skin is thoroughly clean, cleanse twice. This isn’t simply applying cleanser twice, instead use two different cleansers; an oil based one, and a more gentle water based one. The first oil-based cleanser will remove any excess debris on your skin such as makeup or dirt, while the second cleanse will help to sooth the skin, ensure moisture is retained, and remove any leftover residue.

Use Ultraceuticals’ Micellar Solution for the first cleanse, and a prescribed cleanser for the second cleanse.

2. Shower/Wash Skin at Night

Showering at night is a great way to open the pores and clear out any dirt. If you normally shower in the morning or want to avoid having two showers a day, take a hot facecloth and give your arms and legs a brisk wash. While the skin is still damp, apply a moisturiser suited to your skin type. For drier skin, use an intensive moisturiser, or for oily skin use a lighter option. It’ll make the world of difference when you wake in the morning, with soft and supple skin.

3. Use a good eye cream

The skin around the eyes is often neglected, and takes a hammering during the day with eyeshadow, eyeliner, concealer etc. Ensure you counteract the effects by investing in a good eye cream that will help to return the sensitive area to its usual state. Use an eye cream that promotes hydration as this will help to minimise the appearance of fine lines in this delicate area, as well as help to retain moisture.

We recommend using Ultraceuticals’ Ultra C Firming Eye Cream.

4. Apply a face mask once a week

While this isn’t a nightly beauty ritual, it should be incorporated into your routine at least once a week. A quality face mask can work to fix any outlying skin issues you may be facing, by softening fine lines, brightening the appearance of skin, or evening out uneven skin tone.

If you have issues that you’d like to fix, talk to one of the Total Body Concept beauty therapists who will be able to show you the best mask to apply to your skin.

5. Get 8 hours

This may seem like a no-brainer, but many women fail to regularly get a sufficient night’s sleep. The effect of lack of sleep on the skin is detrimental, and can lead to an increase in fine lines, drawn or sallow looking skin. Make sleep a priority every night and your skin will thank you for it.
