We can feel it, spring is just around the corner! But if winter has been somewhat of a time to hibernate for your skin, then it’s time to get into action and start prepping your face and neck for the warmer months. Now that we can finally say goodbye to winter, a new season of skincare is upon us – it is time to spring clean your skin! September is the perfect opportunity for a great ‘spring clean’. After the cold winter months, our skin is often left feeling dry and prone to breakouts. Now is the time for a fresh start, and there are a number of easy ways to repair skin damage and re-set your complexion. 1. Upgrade your cleanser There’s no better time than the present to get a head start on regular washing, exfoliating and moisturising your neck and decollage to truly hit the Spring season running. Find a mild scrub that isn’t too abrasive but will get rid of any dead or damaged skin, and make sure to hydrate that very important area each morning and night with a quality moisturiser. Dry skin is an unfortunate side effect that comes with the colder months, which can leave your skin looking dull. Start your spring skin routine right with a gentle cleanser that maintains your skin’s optimal moisture levels and exfoliates at the same time. Regular exfoliation 2-3 times a week will loosen dead skin cells, and reveal a brighter complexion. Recommended product: Buff away surface impurities without stripping skin of vital moisturise with the Ultra Gentle Exfoliating Gel. This cleanser / exfoliator contains Jojoba esters and AHAs to help decongest your skin. 2. Use a Vitamin C serum Vitamin C based serums are a great way to boost collagen and keep your skin’s appearance bright and plump. Recommended product: Ultraceuticals has a potent age-defying range of Vitamin C serums. Try the Ultra C10+ Firming Serum before upgrading to the Ultra C23 Firming Concentrate, a serum with a powerful peptide MicroElastin for even greater skin resilience and firmness. For around the eyes try the Ultra C Firming Eye Cream. 3. Swap Out Heavy Moisturisers As the temperatures increase, consider a swap to a lighter moisturiser. With warmer weather and humidity, it’s far easier to sweat out products on skin and a thicker moisturiser will leave your skin looking oily. A lighter moisturiser will ensure your skin stays hydrated, without looking coated. Recommended product: Thalgo has a fantastic range of deeply hydrating, yet light, moisturisers. 4. Have Makeup Free Days Consider going makeup free a few days as week. Heavy foundations and powders can clog pores, particularly when combined with sweat, leaving skin prone to acne breakouts. Ditch the coverage, and let your natural skin shine. 5. Protect your skin! We should be wearing sunscreen all year round, but when the sun is out in full force it’s more important than ever to keep skin protected against harmful rays. Ensure you wear sunscreen daily, and don’t forget to reapply throughout the day. It’s also ideal to spend a few minutes out in the sun each day to keep Vitamin D levels at their peak. Recommended products: We suggest using any face sunscreen, particularly one by a cosmeceutical brand like Ultraceuticals. Try Ultraceuticals’ Ultra UV Protective Daily Shield SPF 50+, a 100% mineral sunscreen. The Susan Posnick instant mineral screen SPF UVA & UVB Brush on Block is hard to beat. Keep it in your handbag for re-application throughout the day. 6. Treat your skin to some tech Laser Genesis therapy reduces the appearance of fine lines, reverses sun damage and pigmentation by targeting unwanted brown spots, as well a facial redness, acne and scarring, and creates a beautiful, luminous effect on the skin. This is why it’s the treatment of choice in the lead up to the warmer season, where more skin will be on show and people want to feel confident in their Spring outfits. Get in touch with Total Body Concept to hear about the promotion deal currently on for Laser Genesis clients. Switch out your wardrobe With the warmer days comes a big change in wardrobe, and we sure are looking forward to putting away the coats and bringing out the dresses! Because Spring wardrobes show a lot more skin, it’s worth getting these areas looking their best before the season change actually hits. If your neck still needs some adjusting after the Winter months, or is really susceptible to that sudden increase in sunshine, try a silk scarf as an easy way to both protect it from damage and look glamorous all at the same time. — If you liked this blog, head over to our Journal page to read more of our helpful skincare guides!
