8 ways to get your glow back

8 ways to get your glow back 8 ways to get your glow back

Lackluster, non-vibrant, and uneven skin are not terms we want to use to describe our pretty little faces so follow our steps to regain your glow.

1/ Use a hydrating cleanser

Harsh soaps and cleansers can strip away your skin’s natural oils and further worsen the dryness and irritation. Using a rich milky cleanser formulated to gently cleanse and nourish the skin such as the Ultraceuticals Ultra Hydrating Milk Cleanser. With superpowers to gently cleanse and nourish the skin, effectively removing make-up and daily residue. Featuring Provitamin B5, Grape Seed Oil, and Vitamin E, this formula conditions and perfectly balances moisture levels within the skin. With refreshing cucumber extract, this cleanser is ideal for normal to dry skin to provide comfort, leaving skin soft, supple, and hydrated. Paraben-Free. Team this with a good 3 liner water intake daily and your skin will stay hydrated and glowing from the inside out.

2/ Damp skin to lock it in

Moisturisers are most effective if you use them while your skin is still damp because damp skin absorbs the product more readily. That also gives the moisturiser the chance to lock in that hydration. Don’t dry off fully after cleansing and head straight into your routine to get your hydration boost. Glow with the flow of the morning routines as this helps prepare skin for makeup application or slather and sleep in the evening.

3/ Massage in the moisturiser

To facilitate the absorption of the active ingredients found in your moisturiser, a good massage technique works wonders. Deflate puffiness by massaging your creams into your skin in a circular motion with your fingertips. You can also get the desired glow back with a gadget… the facial roller! They have risen to fame for good reason of late. It will increase circulation to help bring fresh blood and new nutrients to the skin cells as well as giving you some relaxation and ‘me time’ (unless you get a full experience and ask a friend or partner to ‘roll you’!! Hmmm bliss. They are easy to come by, easy on the purse strings, and look pretty good in your bathroom gram posts!

4/ Exfoliate weekly

Out with the old and in with the new! For something a little grittier (excuse the pun), to get deeper into cell regeneration and reveal the fresh glow of skin, allowing moisturisers to penetrate better too, exfoliators are your friends. The older skin cells can collect to give that dull look and the more they team together, the more your skin is prone to acne as dirt and debris get trapped and pores get blocked. Help stimulate circulation and breath new life into your skin. You can use a light daily scrub or go for something with a little more oomph once or twice a week at home. There is also the option to have an acid peel to dissolve the dead skin cells at a deeper level (rather than lift them with a scrub).

5/ Retinol at the ready

Anti-ageing strategies involve increasing cell turnover as this slows down with age so retinol is the key here. Collagen keeps us plump by reducing fine lines and wrinkles and warding off age spots.

The Ultra A Perfecting Range offers an Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum to visibly plump and refines skin texture to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This mild formulation allows the newbies of pure Retinol (pure Vitamin A) to experience optimal benefits whilst hydrating skin to help it feel comforted during the use of Retinol. Pop this product on in the evening to enable pure Vitamin A to be delivered to the target areas.

Vitamin A has been shown to refine skin’s texture and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and contains a blend of ingredients to help soothe and condition the skin. A true star performer, our raved about product is part of the Ultra A Perfecting range and is also available in two other strengths, Ultra A Perfecting Serum and Ultra A Perfecting Serum Concentrate, as well as the Ultra A Perfecting Eye Cream.

6/ Apply an antioxidant to protect against free radicals

Adding antioxidants to your skincare regime can help protect from free radicals and also brighten skin. Free radicals from the sun and the environment are big enemies in our skincare world but with the right attention, you can begin to enjoy them.

Protect what you love with our Environmental Protection Range. The Ultra Protective Ultra Protective Antioxidant Complex. This advanced serum is formulated with a powerful complex of antioxidants and acts as a primer. The powerful complex of antioxidants including Silymarin, a Vitamin C derivative, Vitamin E, and Ferulic Acid are designed to be used alongside daily SPF protection, to provide protection against non-UV environmental stressors. Can be layered under your preferred moisturiser and is suitable for normal, oily, dry skin types.

7/ Eat your greens (and more)

Don’t chase rainbows, eat them! Eating what we know as ‘superfoods’ is that good old inside out goodness. For a fresh and glowing complexion, what we consume really does have an effect on our skin. A diet full of good fats, antioxidants, vitamin C, collagen, and amino acids is the way to go to get the glow. Eat an array of bright colours jam-packed with nutrients to directly benefit your skin. Remember “you are what you eat” or more accurately “you are what you absorb”.

Pile your plate with:

Blueberries; rich in antioxidants and full of vitamin A which are great for clearing up problem skin and neutralising free radicals.

Salmon; packed full of omega 3’s/ polyunsaturated fatty acids. They both protect and repair and keep cell membranes healthy and hydrated to get that soft and supple appearance we seek.

Lemons; Full of Vitamin C, these zesty delights help us maintain a healthy balance of PH giving us firm, younger-looking skin. Throw a wedge in your hot water for a refreshing start to the day.

Avocados; Renowned for their good fats, omega 9’s, they help keep the skin hydrated, firm, and fresh. The antioxidant carotenoids fight free radicals, which are one of the major culprits of damaged skin and ageing. And, they’re yum so let them guac your world!

Spices; Ginger and turmeric have anti-inflammatory superhero powers. This means good news for your skin. Inflammation is the body it takes its toll on skin, leading to wrinkles and ageing in the long term and encouraging the skin to look puffy and tired in the short term. Investing in the long term will make the short term more manageable. Froth up a latte for some seriously satisfying supping.

8/ Face it

If all else fails, do a headstand!!! Yep, you read that right. Maybe a less testing pose would be the downward dog but either of the two will increase blood flow and circulation leaving you fresh-faced and ditching the dull!
