Our Bespoke Mandelic Peel is the ideal treatment for tackling congested or acne prone skin. Mandelic acid, the main ingredient of the peel, is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from bitter almonds which helps to efficiently eliminate dead skin cells, counteract excess lipids on the skin, unblock pores, break down intercellular bonds and activate the skin’s natural regeneration cycle.
Anyone can have this Bespoke Mandelic Peel as it treats a wide range of skin concerns. Having a stable lipid barrier is essential for this facial to be successful. At higher concentrations Mandelic acid makes a great chemical peel and is less irritating than a glycolic or lactic peel.
Your Bespoke Mandelic facial will begin with a four-step cleanse created by Ultraceuticals to ensure that your skin has been thoroughly prepared for the treatment. This is followed by an in-depth skin analysis to ascertain whether your skin is appropriate for the treatment and any areas of concern.
The peel itself is only on for three minutes for your first time, building to 10 minutes eventually. The peel is removed with soothing cool water and it is normal to experience slightly more tingling while the peel is being removed. A warm towel is then placed over the face and neck and day or night products are applied.
Derived from bitter almonds, Mandelic acid is known for its ability to reduce inflammation, kill acne bacteria by reducing congestion, reduce pores and oils and smooth and refine skin textures. It also contains properties that work to lighten and brighten the skin, reducing pigmentation and scarring. It’s suitable for all skin types, and specifically for treating acne, breakouts, pigmentation and scarring. As the most gentle AHA, it’s also great for sensitive skin.
We recommend a course of four to six Bespoke Mandelic Peels and appropriate home care to obtain optimal results.
Directly after a Bespoke Mandelic Peel your skin will feel tight and look smooth. After one to three days you may start to experience varying degrees of peeling and flaking, usually only lasting one to two days. It is important that if you do peel to pat your skin with moisturiser throughout the day and wear SPF 30+ everyday. All exfoliating products and active’s such as Vitamin A (Retinol) and AHAs are not to be used for four to five days post peel.
You should be using your baseline Ultraceuticals products for four to five days after the peel, including your B2 Hydrating Serum and Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser.
You must avoid Vitamin A (Retinol), AHAs, BHAs and any kind of exfoliation for four to five days.
Avoid any peels, microdermabrasion, Laser, IPL or Skin Needling on the area for two weeks.
