An Ultraceuticals professional treatment is one of the best things you can do for your skin, but the results don’t only come from the time you spend on our treatment bed. What you do in the days before and after your appointment makes a real difference to how your skin responds and how long that glow lasts. Here’s our simple guide to getting your skin ready, what to expect on the day and how to look after it once you head home. Before your treatment Start with the right homecare. Ahead of your first professional treatment, your skin therapist will recommend an at-home routine tailored to your skin type and concerns. Using the right products in the lead-up helps your skin get the most out of the treatment itself. Wear SPF every day. Daily sun protection is a non-negotiable, and Ultraceuticals Ultra Daily SPF Protection is our go-to. It’s especially important when you’re preparing your skin for active treatments. Plan for a course, not a one-off. The best results come from a series of treatments spaced at least two weeks apart. We’ll map out a plan with you at your appointment. Press pause on retinol. Stop using any retinol products 48 hours before your appointment. Leave a gap after injectables. If you’ve recently had injectables, we generally suggest waiting 14 days before a facial treatment. Let us know when you book and we’ll advise on the right timing for you. Skip waxing. Avoid waxing the area being treated for two weeks beforehand. What to expect during your treatment Ultraceuticals treatments use high-performance active ingredients, so it’s normal to notice a little tingling, itching, warmth or redness while they get to work. This is simply a sign the actives are doing their job. Your therapist will check in with you throughout so you’re comfortable the whole time. Looking after your skin afterwards Expect a little redness or flaking. Some mild sensitivity, redness or flaking in the days after your treatment is normal. Don’t worry if you don’t peel though. Visible peeling isn’t a sign of how well a treatment has worked. Hands off. Resist the urge to pick at any flaking skin and let it shed naturally. Make-up is fine. You can wear make-up straight away. A mineral formula is the gentlest option. Hold off on your corrective products. Give your skin five to seven days off any products containing AHAs, BHA, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) or retinol (vitamin A). If you use the Brightening Accelerator Mask, you only need to pause it for two days. Keep up your SPF. Apply Ultra Daily SPF Protection every day and avoid exposing your skin to the sun too soon after your treatment. Keep things cool for 48 hours. Steer clear of strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers and chlorinated pools for two days. Wait two weeks for other treatments. Avoid waxing, IPL and laser treatments for two weeks. Stick to your homecare plan. Follow the routine your skin therapist recommended to support and extend your results. Questions?
